Sorry birdies…we’ve netted the cherry trees!

At this time of year, our background soundtrack of birdsong is quite beautiful. We’re a haven for birdlife, we think in part due to our wildlife gardens and careful planting.  Its hard work maintaining our gardens and orchards….we draw the line at sharing our delicious sweet red cherries with our birdie guests!

This year, we’ve managed to fully net the two english cherry trees which take pride of place in our fruit orchard. Ours are native, heritage varieties of English cherry tree, and having been planted over 10 years ago, they’re flourishing.   There promises to be lots of fruit to pick this July and August.  We’re looking forward to sharing our wonderful, flavoursome cherries with our guests…..and this year that’s our human guests who don’t fly!
