The immediate area

The hamlet of Stathe lies between the villages of Burrowbridge (well-known for its "Burrow Mump" and the Monmouth Rebellion battles that took place in the 1680s) and Stoke St. Gregory (with its Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre).

This area is the heart of the award-winning willow craft industry where willow is grown, stripped, boiled and fashioned into baskets and cane furniture. It is also part of the old cider-making area.

Local walks include the River Parrett Trail and MacMillan Way but we keep maps and details of many trails from small strolls to longer hikes on the Quantock Hills. Why not walk to one of our local pubs or restaurants in Stoke St. Gregory or North Curry.

Why not bring your horse to ride on the Quantock Hills or local moors (stabling and grass keep available at Walkers Farm). Alternatively, we have a reciprocal arrangement with someone else whereby you can hire horses to ride in the Quantock Hills.
